HIGHWAY WORKER 2
The Huron County Engineer’s Office is accepting applications the full-time position of Highway Worker 2.
Highway Worker 2 will be responsible for maintaining and repairing county highway roads and bridges. Position involves usually routine work in the operation of vehicles and/or construction equipment. Responsible for the careful and safe operation of a variety of motorized equipment. This may require being on call 24 hours a day. Rate of pay will be $24.41 after a 180-day probationary period.
Qualifications for the position are completion of secondary education or equivalent and one (1) year of experience working in general construction; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Applicant must possess a valid State of Ohio Class A or B CDL and maintain insurability under the Engineer’s insurance policy.
Potential candidates must be able to pass a DOT drug screen and background check.
Qualified candidates can request an application and a detailed job description in person at Huron County Engineer’s Office, 150 Jefferson Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or on the website (www.huroncountyengineer.org).

HURON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
The Huron County Board of Commissioners will be conducting public meetings to consider designating portions of the unincorporated areas of Huron County, Ohio, as restricted areas, prohibiting construction of economically significant wind farms, large wind farms, and large solar facilities pursuant to R.C. sections 303.57 through R.C. 303.62.
The public meetings will be conducted on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the Huron County Administration Building, 180 Milan Avenue Norwalk, Ohio 44857, Meeting Room A, pursuant to R.C. 303.58. A copy of the map to be considered shall be posted at all public libraries within Huron County, Ohio. Citizens wishing to speak at these hearings will be given up to three minutes.
