Norwalk Elks Lodge #730 is now accepting applications for a part-time kitchen manager. Here are the details:
Position Title: Kitchen Manager
Reports to: Chairman of the Board of Trustees
FLSA Status: Part-Time Non-Exempt
Position Objective: To provide an exceptional experience to members and their guests with a tasteful menu and presentation in a clean and safe environment.

Elks are dedicated to serving their communities, supporting veterans, helping youth succeed, and providing fellowship for members and guests. Our kitchen staff plays an important role in that mission by creating a welcoming, clean, and safe dining experience for everyone who visits the Lodge.
Position Responsibilities:
• Lead, mentor, and manage the kitchen team
• Develop and plan menus, establishing portion sizes and menu prices approved by the Board of Trustees
• Prepare and deliver high-quality food in a timely manner
• Create daily prep lists and production schedules
• Manage food costing and inventory levels
• Maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance
• Ensure compliance with all local and state health codes
• Establish maintenance and cleaning schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas
• Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the entire kitchen space
• Work with approved vendors and suppliers
• Reduce food waste and control operational costs
• Participate in the interview process for the selection of kitchen help
• Ensure the kitchen is fully staffed and covered during all hours of operation
Work Hours:
• Work hours will follow established Lodge kitchen hours.
• Current kitchen hours are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday
• Occasional Saturday events will require additional hours
• Hours should not exceed 35 hours per week on average unless approved by the Board of Trustees
• Flexibility for unpaid vacation or time off with advanced notice
Position Requirements:
• High school degree or equivalent
• Formal culinary training or related experience, including catering knowledge/experience
• Previous management experience, preferably in food service/food service sales
• ServSafe certification
• The Kitchen Manager is expected to represent the Norwalk Elks Lodge with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to consistently high quality in every meal served.

HIGHWAY WORKER 2
​
The Huron County Engineer’s Office is accepting applications for the full-time position of Highway Worker 2.
​
Highway Worker 2 will be responsible for maintaining and repairing county highway roads and bridges. Position involves usually routine work in the operation of vehicles and/or construction equipment. Responsible for the careful and safe operation of a variety of motorized equipment. This may require being on call 24 hours a day. Rate of pay will be $24.41 after a 180-day probationary period.

Qualifications for the position are completion of secondary education or equivalent and one (1) year of experience working in general construction; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Applicant must possess a valid State of Ohio Class A or B CDL and maintain insurability under the Engineer’s insurance policy.
​
Potential candidates must be able to pass a DOT drug screen and background check.
​
